Here’s my guide on how to get to Elefanti Beach with everything you need to know to plan your adventure. I’ve also added my other Sardinia travel guides at the end, so you’re all set to plan your trip!

What makes Elefanti Beach cool
Elefanti Beach is a small beach area and a cool rock that looks like an Elephant.
It’s not going to be anything that changes your life. It’s the kind of spot you go over to and maybe spend 10-15 minutes there – taking a couple of photos and splashing around for a bit.
But, it is pretty cool to see and something different for your beach day.
The Elephant Rock is easy to spot and stands out so you won’t miss it when you get there.
Where to park for Elefanti Beach
Use these coordinates in Google Maps to get there: 41°05’01.0″N 9°32’56.5″E.
This is the lot I used and there are multiple parking lots around here.
Have cash on you to pay the parking attendants (I don’t remember the exact price, but when I went it was around €1.50 per hour.)
From here you can easily walk down to the beach.
Another option is to use ‘Parkplatz Spiaggia la Celvia‘ but it will fill up faster so go early for that one.
Where to base yourself
Elefanti Beach is a private beach, which is why you can’t get there directly. It’s not the type of place that you’ll spend the day.
It’s best to base yourself at Celvia Beach – Spiaggia La Celvia – and then pop over to Elefanti to see it.
How to get to Elefanti Beach
From Celvia beach, if your standing on the beach looking out at the water, you need to go all the way to the right.
You’ll see the beach end and turn into a large rock wall. You can see it on Google Maps listed as ‘Spiaggia dell’Elefante‘ to get your bearings if need be.
To get to Elefanti Beach, you need to climb over the rocks.
Now, this looks easy and it starts easy, but it gets a little tricky. Going over the rocks is not a good idea to do while carrying your beach bags or for small kids.
The rocks are large, and not jagged so there’s not as much to get your footing stable, and it gets a little slippery in the sections where you go through the water.
The shallow water is rocky too and full of urchins, so you can’t walk over in the water.
Easier ways to get to Elefanti Beach
There are easier ways to get to Elefanti Beach though and they’re much safer and more suitable for kids.
First, you can rent a kayak or pedal boat from Celvia beach and go over to Elefanti on the water.
It’s easy to find the rentals for these at the other end of Celvia Beach.
Another option, if you are a good swimmer, is to swim or snorkel over to the beach. It doesn’t take long – only about 10-15 minutes and it is quite easy with a set of fins.
It’s also a nice snorkel and there’s a nice rocky area underwater with things like fish, jellyfish, and sea cucumbers.
Safety tips
As I mentioned, getting there over the rocks is a little tricky and requires a little skill. Use your best judgment as far as if this is within your skill level.
If you want to wear shoes for more grip while going over the rocks I recommend these which are lightweight and will not get bogged down when they get wet.
Always check the weather forecast before doing anything like this – whether you get there by the rocks or the water.
Make sure you bring water, drinks, and snacks with you because there’s nothing on the beach to buy.
If you are basing yourself at Celvia and popping over to Elefanti for a visit, either leave someone at Celvia with your belongings to take care of the bags or get a dry bag like this and take your valuables with you. Don’t leave your valuables on the beach there.
Where to stay in Sardinia
I stayed at the Grand Hotel Palau and it was fantastic. I’d absolutely stay there again.
It’s about 40 minutes’ drive to Celvia Beach and you’ll need to rent a car since public transport is limited.
The location was perfect because it was close to the ferry port which made island hopping super convenient.
The rooms were also comfortable, the balconies were a treat, and the breakfast views were a dream.
If you prefer somewhere else, I recommend looking on Booking.com. This is what I used to book the Grand Hotel Palau and what I use to find accommodation when I travel because I can always find a good deal there.
